Warriors Considered Making a Move for LeBron James Before Trade Deadline

The Golden State Warriors tested the possibility of closing an operation with the Los Angeles Lakers for LeBron James before the market closed. The San Francisco ownership leadership made this attempt due to LeBron’s apparent discomfort with the direction of the team, although his agent, Rich Paul, confirmed that his representative does not want to leave the city of Los Angeles.

However, Warriors management would not have thrown in the towel. In an interview with the journalist The AthleticTim Kawakamiowner Joe Lacob did not want to share his name explicitly, but suggested that the interest in LeBron was real and that they are not closing the doors on trying again during the summer if the player changes his mind about his future in the coming months .

“We always try to be aggressive. And, of course, we will study looking at everything,” Lacob responded when he was asked about his call to the Lakers management asking about James. «When we acquired Kevin Durant several years ago, we made an incredibly aggressive move in which I think half of our roster left to achieve it. Even though we had a really good team, we felt like we could be better and we did.”

“There are these turning points, these moments when sometimes players can become available. Even if it’s not something you may have considered, you are obligated to consider it. My answer to your question is that I am always observing, we are always looking at everything. I always tell them [a los ejecutivos de los Warriors] a Mike [Dunleavy Jr.] y Kirk [Lacob], and everyone, nothing is off the table, nothing. “So we look at everything, and if the agreement is right, the timing is right and we have a general internal consensus, then we have to consider it.”

In the same interview, Lacob took the baton from Steve Kerr, who recently shared that he would like to continue coaching the Warriors, and shared that his desire is to extend the coach’s contract.
