Vince Carter Nominated for Basketball Hall of Fame Induction

Indianapolis (dpa) – Vince Carter is about to be inducted into the basketball hall of fame. The now 47-year-old played in the NBA for 22 years, longer than any other professional – and one year more than Dirk Nowitzki, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year. Olympic champion Carter is on a list of suggestions published on Friday with 13 other names. The results are scheduled to be announced April 6, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame said.

Carter played for eight NBA teams. He was active for the Toronto Raptors for the longest time. He was selected to the league’s All-Star team eight times. The NBA All-Star Game is this weekend in Indianapolis.

Also nominated are Chauncey Billups, currently coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, and five-time champion Michael Cooper, who played his entire career for the Los Angeles Lakers.
