Long in a duel for rookie of the year, Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren are following different trajectories at the start of 2024. The Frenchman has probably put an end to this debate for the title.
While Chet Holmgren won Rookie of the Month in November and December, the dynamic has completely reversed since then. Victor Wembanyama has accelerated since the first week of 2024, to the point where the debate no longer exists for many. The Frenchman won the award in January and should, barring an earthquake, do the same in February.
The debate on the rookie of the year over?
Already higher in recent weeks, it is not the recent 5×5 of Wemby which will calm the voters. Holmgren continues to have a magnificent season at the Thunder, but Victor remains a cut above when we look at the matches and the statistics. Journalist Zachary Colwell is convinced of this.
