Uriel Canjura Climbs to Fourth Place in Pan American Badminton Rankings

Uriel Canjura is among the best on the continent.

The Salvadoran athlete, Uriel Canjura, obtained fourth place in the region in the weekly ranking published on January 30 by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) by its English acronym, in the men’s singles category.

With the new update, Canjura is currently in position number 53 in the world ranking with 29,750 points, just behind the Brazilian Ygor Coelho (48) with 32,830 points, also the native of Guatemala, Kevin Cordon (41) with 35,282 points and the first place on the continent, which is the Canadian Bryan Yang (23) with 52,246 points.

The native of Suchitoto has won gold and bronze medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 and the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023, respectively. He recently received a scholarship from the Olympic Committee of El Salvador (COES) since he is a qualifying athlete heading to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In the individual badminton category at the Olympic Games, 35 places will be awarded, both men and women, and the classification will be based on the results obtained between May 1, 2023 and April 28 of this year.
