Unvaccinated Djokovic Returns to Indian Wells for 2022 Masters Tournament

Djokovic had missed the Masters tournament for the past four years due to his corona vaccination status.

The 36-year-old is known to have not been vaccinated against Covid-19, but until last spring only vaccinated foreigners were allowed to enter the USA.

Djokovic triumphed in Indian Wells, southern California, in 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Now he is aiming for title number six and with it the sole record for victories.

Alcaraz and Sinner are competing with Djokovic

Meanwhile, number two in the world, Carlos Alcaraz, wants to challenge him for the trophy. The young Spaniard triumphed in Indian Wells last year.

Jannik Sinner is also a serious competitor for Djokovic and Alcaraz this year; the South Tyrolean is traveling to the desert as the newly crowned Australian Open champion.

The 2022 Indian Wells winner, Iga Swiatek, is back in the women’s competition. Last year the Pole was eliminated in the semi-finals.
