Union captain Trimmel suspended for two games

Union Berlin captain Christopher Trimmel has been banned for two games by the sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) after his red card for rough play in the game against RB Leipzig. The Burgenlander and the club have agreed to the verdict, which means it is legally binding, as the DFB announced on Tuesday.

Trimmel fouled Leipzig player David Raum on Sunday and was sent off in the 73rd minute. The 36-year-old will now be missing for the Berliners in the supplementary game in Mainz on Wednesday and against Wolfsburg next Saturday.
