Travis Kelce Matches Taylor Swift’s Donation for Shooting Victims

American football player Travis Kelce matched this Friday the $100,000 that his girlfriend, singer Taylor Swift, donated to the victims of the shooting that occurred Wednesday at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl celebration parade.

Chiefs star Kelce made the donation through his foundation in favor of the donation campaign that has been opened on the GoFundMe website, coordinated by the professional American football league team and the United Way organization.

In this way, the player has matched the amount that was also donated by the pop star Taylor Swift, who in her case directed the donation to the family of Elizabeth López-Galvan, a radio DJ of Mexican origin and who is the only fatal victim of the event.

The shooting also left 22 people injured, including López-Galvan’s two children.

Two minors have been charged in connection with the shooting and are being held in a juvenile detention center on charges related to the possession and use of firearms and resisting arrest, authorities reported this Friday.

The city’s police chief, Stacey Graves, indicated that the incident resulted from “a dispute between several people” and added that “preliminary conclusions of the investigation have shown that there are no links to terrorism or violent extremists.”

The event occurred in the vicinity of Union Station, Kansas City’s central railway station, according to the local Police Department.

“There were shots fired west of Union Station, near the garage, and several people were injured,” said police, who also reported the arrest of “two armed people.”

Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins declined to comment further, saying only that additional information would be released soon.
