These former youngsters from FC Bayern Munich are currently playing big elsewhere

Alexander Nübel (VfB Stuttgart)

The now 27-year-old is an exception to this list – he was neither trained at Bayern nor is he still a talent. But as a loan player he, like the others, is making positive headlines.

Nübel is currently on the way to parrying VfB Stuttgart into the Champions League. In his 24 appearances for the Swabians so far, he has kept a clean sheet nine times and conceded 29 goals – a good, if not outstanding, record. He was recently absent from the Bundesliga due to hip problems, but should be back between the positions soon.

The Paderborn native could soon be called up to national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s DFB squad for the first time – at least according to VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß, who gave him a “good chance” that “it will work out at some point.” He had already held up well at AS Monaco in Ligue 1 in the previous season.

The goalkeeper only played for Bayern in the 2020/2021 season, when he was allowed to play four times. However, a return is out of the question for him as long as world-class keeper Manuel Neuer is still there – Nübel has emphasized this several times.

Numerous experts now deny Nübel the potential to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. But perhaps he has now found happiness in Stuttgart and VfB will strike in the summer thanks to the money for possible CL qualification.
