The reconstruction of the Dutch crime: “It was a brutal aggression”

This is a Dutch couple who was found dead in Murcia

They killed them, dismembered their bodies and buried them in an orchard.

From the beginning, the main suspect was Juan Cuenca, manager of the volleyball club in which Ingrid had played and with which the player had a debt.

‘Code 10’ analyzes the crime of the Dutch, a couple who traveled to Spain to undergo a treatment and in which they also tried to solve some problems of debts. However, they were murdered, their bodies were dismembered and they were buried in an orchard. Finally, the manager of the volleyball club in which the athlete played and another person, Valentin Ion, were convicted of double murder.

Her name was Ingrid, she was a volleyball player and she went with her husband to Spain where they underwent a Fertility treatment. She was one of the most relevant athletes in Holland and her relationship with Murcia stems from the fact that she had been signed by a volleyball club that a businessman from the community had set up.

The fiscal Veronica Cerdan She pointed out that she believed she was pregnant, as she communicated it in a WhatsApp to a friend. That’s why she had contacted the clinic and they had set up an appointment. Unable to contact them, the family called the clinic, which confirmed that they had not kept their appointment and the complaint was filed.

The debt problems that would have motivated the murder

On their trip, the couple had also met the club’s former manager, Juan Cuenca, because they had to resolve the issue of some outstanding debts. Apparently, she owed a sum of money and Juan Cuenca had assumed it, a figure that was around 60.000 euros according to the researchers.

They stayed at the so-called ‘Casa Colorada’, where Juan Cuenca was waiting at the door and Valentin Ion and Cosntantin, who would have been the hired hitmen. The accused explained that everything degenerated into an argument but journalist Ricardo Fernández explains to us: “Once they enter the ‘Casa Colorada’ They meet death by beating, They die from the blows of a blunt object that does not reach. They are crushed.”

Then, the bodies were dismembered: “It was a brutal attack, she even had a tooth in her stomach about the beatings he received,” explained Fuentes, homicide chief of the National Police.

The resolution of the case

The investigation was accelerated by the inaccuracies of the accused and the family’s statements. Juan Cuenca was always the main suspect, his phone was ordered to be tapped and the thread was pulled after a conversation with a woman, Rosa, who took the couple to the house. During the search, traces of blood were found, which led to the arrest.

Finally, the jury convicted two crimes of murder against both Juan Cuenca and Valentín but he acquitted both Constantin and Seraphim. But why did it go from being considered homicide to murder? There were two circumstances: treachery given that the couple did not expect the attack and because money was involved in the case.
