The Port of Castellón (Spain) is carrying out an ambitious project to expand its infrastructure towards the south, with the construction of the south dock as a fundamental part of this initiative. The new dock, which will consolidate the enclave as a large intermodal logistics platform with a rail connection, already has several concessionaires dedicated to solid and liquid bulk.

To satisfy the demand for surfaces for bulk collection and storage, it is necessary to have adequate access roads for the expected traffic. For this reason, the Port Authority plans to carry out different actions, among which the construction of a new road 313 meters long and 13.80 meters constant width stands out.

Specifically, the new road will integrate two lanes, one for each direction of traffic, as well as a parking area and two sidewalks of different widths. Its objective is to provide continuity between the existing parallel roads and offer the necessary services for future concessionaires whose traffic is constantly growing.

The work for the execution of this road has an estimated period of four months and has a base bidding budget of 720,049.78 euros, with an estimated contract value of 595,082.46 euros.

On the other hand, the board of directors of the Port of Castellón has approved the possibility of reviewing the bonuses that affect strategic sectors of the province in its next Business Plan, including the citrus sector.
