The Injury Woes of Christopher Nkunku: A Setback for Chelsea and France

Expected to explode the scores in the Premier League, Christopher Nkunku continues to experience real hell with yet another injury recorded this Tuesday by Chelsea.

An insatiable Bundesliga scorer with Leipzig, Christopher Nkunku has had one set of problems since joining Chelsea. He alone symbolizes the failed transfer window of the English club, which is not getting through it and would like to count on the French striker to turn things around. Hit in the knee last August during a preparation match, the former PSG player missed several months of competition. His return to training had been complicated and Nkunku never seemed to regain the fullness of his physical capabilities. Despite a goal scored and a few appearances, the Frenchman was back in the infirmary for a hip injury which deprived him of the month of January. Finally appearing in February for a few parts of matches, the French international thought he would find playing time to at least finish the season in good style. But this Tuesday, Chelsea announced that Christopher Nkunku was again on the injured list, without giving the reasons.

Nkunku withdraws from Cup match against Leeds

A medical check-up must be made with the player, who is in any case no longer able to train and will therefore be out of the Blues’ next matches, starting with Wednesday in the FA Cup against Leeds. A hard blow for the London club, for the player, but also for the French team. If Didier Deschamps has learned to get used to doing without good offensive elements during the last major competitions, the French coach appreciates the profile of the former PSG player, and in particular his ability to play in several positions in attack, or to be important when leaving the bench. In any case, for many Chelsea followers, this failed Nkunku season is starting to look like a huge hoax, even if that doesn’t please anyone. Especially not to a player who knows the difficulties of his club, and suspects the enormous expectations linked to his arrival this summer for 60 million euros. At a press conference this Tuesday afternoon, Mauricio Pochettino even explained that he did not know when his player was injured, simply learning of his injury in the act.
