Around the 15th minute of the match, Danian Pavlas was taking the ball out of his own half and after passing the pass he wanted to pass Filip Szabaciuk. However, the 23-year-old ran into an opponent, bounced off him and fell to the turf. The situation looked harmless, but the defender lost consciousness.
Stomil player Piotr Kurbiel saw it quickly and moved towards his rival. He reacted to the situation in an exemplary manner and decided to pull out Pavlas’ tongue to prevent choking. He also made a gesture towards the bench for medics to appear on the pitch.
– I reacted immediately. I knew how to behave. After a while, specialists appeared and took care of the Wisła player. I didn’t do anything big. I behaved as a person should do when another person needs help – said Kurbiel, quoted by “Wspólnota Puławska”.
However, it is possible that this reaction saved Pavlas’s health. The 23-year-old remained on the pitch for about five minutes before being left on a stretcher. He was immediately pre-transported to the hospital. “We would like to inform you that Danian Pavlas, who was injured in today’s match, was transported by medical transport from the stadium to the hospital, and then underwent a number of tests. By the doctors’ decision, he remains in the hospital for further diagnosis,” Wisła Puławy wrote after the match.
After the dangerous situation, the match was continued and ended with the score 1:1. The division of points means that Stomil is 14th in the league with 24 points, and Wisła is one place lower with a loss of one point. Teams taking places 15-18 will be relegated from the 2nd league.
