2nd WTA title for Paolini
The Italian Jasmine Paolini (WTA 26) won the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai. The 26-year-old defeated Russian qualifier Anna Kalinskaja 4:6, 7:5, 7:5 in 2:13 hours. For Paolini it was only the second title on the tour after her success in Portoroz 2021. She will jump to 14th place in the ranking. Kalinskaja caused a stir in the semi-finals with her two-set win over world number 1 Iga Swiatek.
Ready in Pau’s Final
Leandro Riedi’s (ATP 175) soaring continues. The Zurich native reached the final of a Challenger tournament for the third time this year. In Pau, France, the 22-year-old beat local Clément Chidek (ATP 375) 6:3, 6:3 in the semifinals. In the final he will face the Finnish Otto Virtanen (ATP 172). Riedi has already won the tournaments in Oreias and Louvain this year. He was able to win 17 of 19 matches.
