Tottenham Hotspur handed over a seemingly certain victory in the closing minutes in the Premier League on Saturday. The Londoners drew with Everton with star Micky van de Ven: 2-2. Aston Villa recorded a big away win.

Tottenham didn’t need long to take the lead in Liverpool. After four minutes, Richarlison shot the ball beautifully from the left behind his former teammate Jordan Pickford. Out of respect for his previous club he did not cheer.

The biggest danger from the energetic Everton came from corner kicks, due to hesitant performances by Spurs goalkeeper Gulielmo Vicario. Everton emerged from such a situation on equal terms. After half an hour, Jack Harrison headed in a ball that was returned at the far post.

Still, Spurs went into halftime with a lead. Richarlison shot the ball beautifully behind Pickford in the 41st minute. The attacker seemed to have decided the game, but things still went wrong in extra time. From a late free kick, the ball ended up on the head of former PSV defender Jarrad Branthwaite: 2-2.

Van de Ven made a big impression at Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old central defender, who was recently selected by national coach Ronald Koeman, was the absolute standout with sliding moves, smart defensive runs and headers.

Aston Villa strikes, Newcastle takes point in spectacle

Aston Villa won 0-5 at Sheffield United. The Birmingham team led 0-4 within half an hour thanks to goals from John McGinn, Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey and Youri Tielemans. Àlex Moreno provided the final chord shortly after halftime.

Thanks to the victory, Aston Villa takes fourth place in the rankings from Tottenham. The difference between the two teams is two points.

Newcastle United drew 4-4 against Luton Town at St. James’ Park. Sean Longstaff twice gave ‘The Magpies’ the lead, after which Luton took a 2-4 lead in the second half.

Newcastle seemed to be losing points, but thanks to Kieran Trippier and Harvey Barnes, the home team still grabbed a point. Sven Botman had a starting place at Newcastle. Tim Krul and Tahith Chong remained on the bench at Luton.
