PSG wins without convincing in Strasbourg and consolidates its place as leader of Ligue 1

Alaa Bellaarouch may not soon forget his first start in Ligue 1. The young Moroccan goalkeeper (22 years old), who now defends the Strasbourg cages replacing Matz Sels (left this Thursday for Nottingham Forest), made his mark this Friday evening, on the occasion of his discovery of the French elite, at Meinau, against PSG, on the occasion of the 20th day of Ligue 1. Bellaarouch first stood out positively by achieving a splendid parade on a penalty taken by Kylian Mbappé (6th), obtained following a tackle by Lucas Perrin on Randal Kolo Muani.

Unfortunately for him, the Racing goalkeeper, perhaps intoxicated by his initial exploit, then saw one of his restarts blocked by Marco Asensio, the ball returning to Mbappé, who only had to get back straight against to the empty goal (0-1, 31st). The same duo of attackers will be involved on PSG’s second goal, since, on a counter initiated by a nice outside from Fabian Ruiz, the captain of the Blues, on the left, managed to serve on the opposite side of the surface. Spanish winger, who calmly controlled and scored (0-2, 49th).

At this point in the match, the score seemed slightly flattering for the Parisians, who, although they dominated the match overall, had also conceded a few dangerous chances from Moïse Sahi Dion (1st) and Habib Diarra (26th). Then, in the last half hour, the Alsatians became emboldened in the game, logically managing to reduce the gap through Dilane Bakwa, who adjusted Gianluigi Donnarumma from the left, from close range, after a well-felt serve from ‘Angelo Gabriel (1-2, 68th).

Strasbourg could not do as well as Brest

Then, Strasbourg was not far from repeating the feat achieved by Brest, who, on January 28, had scored two goals against PSG at the Parc (2-2). But Patrick Vieira’s men lacked precision in the last gesture, like Manuel Emegha, who shot at Donnarumma (69th), Bakwa who missed the target (79th) and Abakar Sylla, whose the head lacked power (90+3rd). PSG, thanks to this success ultimately achieved through a hard struggle, consolidates its first place in Ligue 1, now nine points ahead of Nice, which will travel to Brest on Sunday. But, in the game, Mbappé and his teammates are hardly reassured before the reception of Real Sociedad, on February 14, in the Champions League.
