In training to promote women’s Judo
Legnano – Technical demonstration of Judo with the European Champion of Maribor 2002 Cinzia Cavazzutitoday president of the FIJLKAM Lombardy Judo sector, together with the athletes of the president’s Judo Club Legnano Angelo Margarone. “Judo was born at the end of the 19th century, it is a discipline considered ‘modern’, but it derives from Jujutsu. It therefore has ancient origins – these are the first words of Cavazzuti, who introduces the evening in its technical aspects -. Attack and defense practices have been inserted into a more pedagogical context, which thus allows a discipline considered Martial Art to become something different: a real training for the mental and physical improvement of the person. The objective is to compete with the opponent and take advantage of this opportunity to improve.”
AND an important sport at an international level, which became an Olympic discipline in the 1960s, specifically in the 1964 edition of the Olympics. The gap between genders has always been felt, however, standing (like many other sports, remaining in the sporting field) as a good testimony to that macho mentality that too often characterizes our society. It was an opportunity for sharing and training in the name of fun and equality.
“Judo collects useful lessons even in everyday life – continues the champion, in her presentation -, how to learn to accept defeat, support a friend, a partner, or even respect an opponent”.
At the end of the training, the students present were given a space to ask questions Cinzia Cavazzuti.
“In your career have you seen a change in the way women’s sport is viewed?”, is the first question asked
“There is an improvement in the consideration of women in the world of Judo, that’s for sure. When I started – replies the athlete – women still didn’t participate in the Olympics” and it is surprising to think how we had to wait until 1992, with the Barcelona Olympics, for women to be recognized as equal in fighting in that event alongside their male athlete colleagues. “The Olympics represent an achievement – concludes the athlete -, made through a petitionne, created precisely by female athletes in order to be considered, from this point of view, equal to men”.
Il Panathlon Club it is an association that has always stood out for the promotion of sporting ethics, with special attention dedicated today also to the topic of “gender equality”, which is always important to remember. Formal passing of the baton, then, to the top of the Panathlon Club La Malpensa between the Past President Giovanni Castiglioni and the newly elected Sergio La Torre, who will lead the club for the current two-year period.
