Preview of Italian Athletes’ Paths at 2024 Paris Grand Slam Judo Tournament

Judo, the Italian draw at the Paris Grand Slam 2024 – Today, Thursday 1 February, the draw ceremony for the next one took place Grand Slam of judo to be held in Paris 2024, who outlined the event’s scoreboard. It is now possible, therefore, to draw conclusions on what will be the first crossroads and possible paths of the Italian athletes. The world number 1 in the -48kg category, Alessandra Scutto, was placed in the same part of the draw as the American Laborde. If she goes through to the round she could find a really tough opponent in the semifinal: the Japanese Wakana Koga.

In the 52kg category, however, Odette Giuffrida could face Giles in the semi-final and in case of victory, a clash with the Kosovar Krasniqi is probable. In the -57 kg category Veronica Toniolo will have to face a complicated path, against Yildiz or Ballhaus. If successful she could then face Deguchi or Tamaoki. In the men’s Fabio Basile will be involved in a truly difficult first round, against the great Maruyama. Unlucky Nicholas Mungai and Jean Carletti, who were victims of an unfavorable draw. Finally, in the -81 kg category, Antonio Esposito and Giacomo Gamba will make their debut against two very respectable opponents: the Frenchman Djalo and the judoka from the United Arab Emirates Tatalashvili.
