The heavy rainfall in the last few hours has caused the water level of the Dender to rise so much that the Oude Kaaibrug had to be raised. It is not the first time that the bridge has gone up, which can be the case several times a year. Fortunately, the Begijnenbrug a little further away has a solution to this problem. Due to the constructed bridge, traffic between the Oude Kaai and the Désiré de Bodtkaai will have to take a detour. It is not clear exactly how long the Oude Kaaibrug will remain up, it depends on the amount of rain that will fall in the following hours and days.
