Ostapenko’s former doubles partner and Ratliff upset Latvian-Ukrainian duo in Dubai tournament

The Latvian-Ukrainian duo, seeded sixth in the tournament, lost 4-6, 4-6 to Ostapenko’s former doubles partner Gabriela Dabrovski of Canada and second-seeded Erin Ratliff of New Zealand.

Ostapenko earned 215 world doubles ranking points for reaching the quarterfinals.

The Latvian/Ukrainian duo beat the Dutch tennis player Aranča Rus and the Chinese representative Wang Xinjiu in the first round match with 7-6 (8:6), 6-3, and in the second match they defeated the American tennis player Elisha with 7-6 (7:4), 6-3 Parks and Xu Yifang from China.

Ostapenko also entered the singles competition in Dubai, where she was seeded ninth and suffered a loss in the round of 16 on Wednesday, earning 120 world ranking points.

The tournament takes place on hard surfaces.
