In the deciding third set, Towson got off to a better start once again, going 3-1 up, while Ostapenko was able to tie things up at 3-3. Tausone reached the match point in the ninth game, which Alona played back and got closer to 4-5. In the set and in the match, a tiebreak was decisive, in the end of which the Latvian tennis player was superior.

In the ranking of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Ostapenko is ranked 12th, while Tausone is ranked 91st. Ostapenko’s next opponent will be British tennis player Jodie Burridge (WTA 102).
