“One day I will return”: Neymar’s triumphant return to his former club

He hasn’t returned to the field yet, but we can already see him at the edge. Neymar, who is recovering from the rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his left knee suffered in October with the Brazilian selection, attended the Paulista championship meeting between his former club, Santos, and Corinthians on Wednesday. A success (1-0), where the ex-PSG star took the time to greet the former supporters of the team where he started among the professionals, now relegated to the Brazilian second division.

Images of his presence were relayed by the TNT Sports channel, as well as by the Santos club on Instagram. The Sao Paulo club posted several photos on Instagram of the top scorer in the history of the Seleçao, who now plays for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Wearing a white Santos jersey, with the number 10, we see him in particular with coach Fabio Carille or posing with the Santos players after the victory.

“I feel at home here”

Neymar also shared his presence on social networks. “At home,” he wrote on Instagram to accompany a photo of the stadium posted in his story. “I feel at home here,” he explained in April, during one of his previous visits when he was still wearing the Paris jersey. It’s the club that gave me everything, that opened doors for me and my family, that revealed me to the world. I am very happy and content to be here. […] One day I will come back. »

Neymar signed for Al-Hilal this summer in a 90 million euro transfer with a two-season contract and a salary of 100 million euros per year. Before his injury, the striker had time to play five matches and score one goal. In January, his club removed him from its league squad to make room for ex-Marseillais Renan Lodi, due to the rule which limits the number of foreigners per team.
