Norwegian Biathlete Johannes Tynjes Bä Wins 18th World Championship Title

Continuing the dominance of Norwegian biathletes, Johannes Tynjes Bä won the 18th world championship title in his career, finishing in 32 minutes and 36.9 seconds. Sturla’s Holm Legreid was 28.7 seconds behind, while Vetle’s Sjostad Kristiansen earned bronze with a finish 38.5 seconds behind the champion.

In shooting, it was not a perfect day for the winners either – Bä and Kristiansen skied in three penalty circles, but Legreid had two intact targets in the firing line.

According to the results achieved in the sprint the day before, Rastorgujev started 12th, going on the track one minute and 17 seconds behind the leader Legrade.

In the first shootout, Rastorgujev missed the first and last target, falling back to 16th place in the scoreboard after two penalty laps, where Christiansen took over the lead.

In the next shooting lying down, Andrejs shot flawlessly, which allowed him to move up to 15th place, but Kristiansen strengthened his position as the leader.

In the third firing line, shooting standing up, Rastorguyev had one target intact, however, even after completing the penalty round, he rose to 13th place.

Andrej’s chances of fighting for the TOP10 disappeared after three mistakes in the last shootout, and he returned to the 19th position on the track. In the role of a convincing leader, Johannes Tinjes Bä skied the last part of the distance.

Three minutes and 22.2 seconds separated Rastorgujev from the winner at the finish.

Earlier on Sunday, Latvian biathlete Baiba Bendika took 11th place in the pursuit distance for women.

In the second week of the World Championship, until February 18, Novemesto will also host competitions in classic distances, mixed 1+1 and classic relays, as well as in distances with a mass start.

After the World Championship with three stages in March, the World Cup season will continue, which will end in North America.
