At the World Of Samsung in Offenbach there was also a tour of the exclusive “Innovation Room”. You could look at particularly advanced technologies and products at a total of six stations.
Station 1: AI upscaling, comparison 2023 to 2024, QN900C versus QN900D
AI-Upscaling
The new 8K AI Upscaling Pro uses the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor for particularly high-performance 8K upscaling and upscales low-resolution content with enormous detail and low noise. This processor is only used in the QN900D series. The new model has even more details, more 3D, even more stability, better sharpness of movement (baseball throw as an example), tickers look improved (for news, etc.).
High-end processor
Krass: 8K material was downscaled to 720p and then upscaled by the TV processor – skyscrapers, car traffic, etc. could be seen. Unless you were sitting directly in front of the QN900D, you would never think that 720p material was being extrapolated. No steps, no pixelation, no other artifacts, practically no visible scaling noise. The 8K AI Upscaling Pro works in the Standard Dynamic Eco picture modes. It is not active in movie mode or filmmaker mode. About the function: Generative AI supplements missing information during upscaling. Dedicated neural networks (512 in total) are only responsible for this (QSR, Quantum Super Resolution). The chip used is a relatively freely programmable platform; new patterns for recognizing image content and their errors can be loaded onto it. This makes image analysis more and more accurate. New patterns can be rolled out with a firmware.
Second station: The AI Energy Save Mode 2023 to 2024 version, Neo QLED 8K model
The revised AI Energy Save Mode is for all 2024 QLED and Neo QLED series starting with the Q60D. The mode impresses with a better picture and lower power consumption. The image appears better in color (more color facets), brighter, with more contrast (example sequences from the animal world: tigers, foxes, zebras, giraffes, brown bears). The amount of energy saved obviously depends on the content; we estimate around 15 percent, which is of course always difficult to generalize. Our estimates are for the QN900D compared to the QN900C.

Third station: Samsung Tizen OS
Tizen OS 2024
The Tizen OS 2024 places even greater focus on finding content quickly and comprehensively. This is ensured by personalized content and associated services for those accounts that were previously set up on the Smart TV. This means that all members of a household receive their own profile for personalized recommendations and other customizable functions.
Samsung TV Plus has also been revised. The updated user interface (UI) has a new home screen with an overview of the available content, with additional categories being added for faster searches. This feature can be linked to individual Samsung accounts so that you can access your favorite channels and content quickly and easily. At the same time, the user receives individual content suggestions based on their viewing habits. With Samsung TV Plus you can enjoy a lot of content for free from almost all categories (with a Samsung account, registration/creation is free). Samsung also maintains partnerships with numerous renowned content providers.
Gaming Hub
The Samsung Gaming Hub (e.g. for cloud gaming) is also integrated into Tizen OS (2024).
New in Tizen 2023 is Samsung Daily + (smart home):

With Samsung Daily+4 as a new hub that supports many everyday routines, networking in the smart home can be optimized. Samsung Daily+ offers a wide range of services and features – from personal training to remote PC solutions – through a single interface. A new function, for example, is Multi Control. It enables more efficient work from home. This allows all screens – including televisions, smartphones and monitors – to be controlled with a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse.
The 2024 TV and screen line-up also offers even more accessibility. Features include:
- Audio Subtitles: Translates subtitles into spoken language in real time. It is the world’s first function integrated into the TV from Samsung, which relies on AI and optical character recognition (OCR5 technology).
- Remote for Barrier Free: An app designed for people with visual, hearing or physical impairments. It guarantees seamless control of the TV via smartphone. The individually customizable app allows intuitive placement of buttons, uses colors for easy handling and provides tactile feedback. At the same time, it integrates Samsung’s current accessibility functions, such as voice commands for control via smartphone.
- Relumino Together Mode: Relumino is a technology that enables people with visual impairments to experience television shows, films and games in better quality in front of their TV. Relumino uses artificial intelligence developed by Samsung to dynamically outline on-screen subjects and balance colors so that virtually all objects on the screen are easier to see. In Relumino Together Mode, two contents – in usual mode and in Relumino mode – can now be viewed side by side and at the same time.
