During the night the news was spread that Rajon Rondoveteran NBA champion, was arrested on Sunday for illegal possession of firearms and narcotics.
Rondo had been stopped in Louisville (his hometown) for a traffic violation, but at the time of the check the officer decided to proceed with a vehicle search by virtue of the perceived smell of marijuana, as reported by the television station that broadcast the news. In the vehicle the officer then found, in addition to the marijuana and to those that are said in English “drug paraphernalia”, or of equipment for using or concealing drugsA ‘weapon illegally detained.
In 2022 Rondo had received a restraining order towards a woman, who claimed that the former NBA player had threatened her and her son with a gun. By virtue of this provision (later canceled due to an agreement between the parties), Rondo is not allowed to possess firearms, a fact which led to upon arrest. The former player is already released on bail.
Rajon Rondo ended his long NBA career at the end of the 2021-22 season with the Cavaliers, after winning the title in 2008 with the Celtics and in 2020 with the Lakers in the Orlando bubble. Now, the danger after the second accusation against him, is that Rondo is going to add his name to a long list of players about whom we receive news of this type all too often.
