National Sports Secretariat (SND) Summer Camp Leaves Positive Impact on Over a Thousand Children and Adolescents

The National Sports Secretariat (SND) successfully closed its summer camp, after three exciting weeks of intense activity, leaving a positive mark on the lives of more than a thousand children and adolescents who participated in this annual program. The initiative, which seeks to promote healthy lifestyle habits and contribute to the fight against drug addiction, was marked within the inter-institutional plan “Sumar”, including sport as a fundamental tool in the central strategy of the Executive Branch.

With the commitment, the SND accompanied the “Sumar” plan, highlighting the incorporation of summer camps as a sports tool in the fight against drugs. By providing healthy alternatives and positive activities, the program aims to distance young people from negative temptations and create an environment conducive to their comprehensive development.

From the beginning of the colony, children enthusiastically participated in a wide variety of recreational activities. The program included initiation into sports such as chess, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, soccer, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate Do, wrestling, swimming, skating, rugby, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball and Zumba kids. The diversity of sports options allowed participants to discover and explore their athletic interests, fostering a lasting love of physical activity.

The SND deployed a team of 40 highly trained professionals to guide the children on their sporting journey. The summer camp was held free and inclusive in four sports venues: the SND Complex, the National Aquatic Center, the communities that live in the area of ​​influence of the Cateura landfill and the San Francisco neighborhood.
