Moenia evolves and uses technology to create music – El Sol de México

Constant work, adapting to new technologies and the union between its members are some of the key elements that have kept the Mexican group Moenia in force for more than three decades.

And, to celebrate their work for years, as well as the success they had last October 11 in their concert in the capital, the synth pop group will return to the stage of the National Auditorium this February 24.

“For us to do two dates at the National Auditorium completely sold out, with such a short time apart, it is something new, it is definitely something that excites us a lot,” said the group member and music producer, Alex “Midi,” in an interview. ”.

“I could presume that we are in the best stage of the band, that makes us very happy and happy, but it also carries a great responsibility, the people who go to this next concert have to leave completely satisfied, happy to have seen a quality show.” , as our fans are used to, but in the Auditorium it is always a higher degree of difficulty. I’m sure they will be very happy. Yes the setlist changes, some songs, some moments that we will have change, yes it is going to be different; For those who went to the first concert, in October, it will be special,” he added.

One of the facts that the DJ is also most proud of is that Moenia started as a group focused on a very small niche of electronic music, but their artistic passion led them to grow much more, until they achieved popularity with songs like “I can’t be without you”, “Star mantle”, or “I will be with you”.

“We are a combination of several things, we never stopped making music, we never said goodbye, nor did we come back, nor was it a reunion, we were always working, we had stages of success, then others not so much, we suddenly released not albums, but singles, but “No matter how we released new music, it was always there, something new from Moenia,” said “Midi.”

But not everything has been smooth sailing, since the relationship between him and his colleagues Alfonso Pichardo and Jorge Soto, who make up the group, have had to overcome certain problems, as well as deal with differences in thought.

“That we fight, yes, all the time, but what we have known how to do well is get ahead of those frictions, which are really things from day to day, from spending a lot of time together or also creative frictions that can later be positive if you know how to carry them. The groups that we admire, almost all of them have fallen out and that is why they no longer exist, so we understood very well that, for whatever reason, maybe we don’t have support from the fans, or we run out of desire, this group is gone. It goes, but it is not going to end because of a fight between us, we are very clear about that,” said the musician.

In fact, something that helps them is that each one has their own projects, where they can express themselves freely and this means that there are fewer problems between them.

“For years we have put the group first and the studio’s creative decisions are made with the group in mind. That is part of maturing as a musician, as a producer within a band and in fact, all of that has served, that freedom that we have to do other things and that we no longer fight over doing certain creative things, is important for Moenia to be celebrating more than 30 years of making music.”

Finally, “Midi” anticipates that after the premiere of their album “Stereo Hits Vol. 2” last year, which includes covers such as “Amante bandido”, “Lobo hombre en Paris” and “The cell that explodes”, the group is next to release unreleased music.
