Maria’s Australian Open Journey and Upcoming Match Against Elina Awanessjan

Three weeks ago at the Australian Open, Maria made it through the first round for the first time since 2016, but then lost the second round match against the Italian Jasmine Paolini. Last week they finished in the round of 16 in Thailand.

Defending champion Tamara Korpatsch will also be taking part in the action on Tuesday – she will face Elina Awanessjan in the first round. The Hamburg native celebrated her first WTA title in Cluj in 2023, when the 250 tournament took place in the fall. Laura Siegemund was eliminated in the first round on Monday.
