Marcus Vinícius D’Almeida Named World’s Best Archer for 2023

The Brazilian Marcus Vinícius D’Almeida has been recognized as the best archer in the world for the year 2023. The distinction was announced last Sunday (4) by World Archery, the international archery federation.

The archer leads the world rankings in his discipline and won the bronze medal at the recent World Championships held in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, during the same year, he became champion in the final phase of the Archery World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico, and won two medals at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile: silver in mixed doubles and bronze in teams.

Marcus had already been distinguished as the best male athlete at the Brazil Olympic Awards, an event organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).

Last Sunday, he participated in the final event of the World Indoor Archery Circuit, in Las Vegas, USA, where he reached the position of runner-up after facing the host Brady Ellison, winner of three Olympic medals.

In the archery discipline, athletes shoot three arrows per round, and can obtain up to 30 points depending on the accuracy of the target. The highest score in the round awards two points in the matchup. In the event of a tie, each participant is awarded one point, and the first to reach six points is declared the winner of the duel.
