Man with Swastika Dies After Brawl: Suspect Brought to Justice

After the death of the man with the swastika following a brawl at the weekend at La Guillotière, the suspect was brought to justice.

On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, a man who allegedly wore extremist tattoos and objects decorated with swastikas (made “not established at this stage of investigations” by the authorities) was seriously injured during a brawl in the Guillotière district, in the 7th arrondissement. He succumbed to his injuries a few hours later, in a state of brain death despite the care given to him at Saint-Joseph Saint-Luc hospital.

Following the discovery of the victim lying on the ground by the police, at around 1:30 a.m., a suspect was arrested and placed in police custody, carrying a brass knuckle. According to Le Progrès, he appeared before the investigating judge this Friday afternoon, the Lyon prosecutor’s office having requested his placement in pre-trial detention. A judicial investigation was also opened, “counts of intentional violence in a meeting resulting in death without intention to cause it, failure to assist a person in danger, aggravated theft, prohibited carrying of category D weapons”.

The investigation is still ongoing, in particular in order to identify possible accomplices and co-perpetrators of the acts, the violence in question having been perpetuated in a group.
