Mali Prepares for the 13th African Games: Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba Leads the Charge

Mali will participate in the 13th African Games, “Accra 2023» scheduled from March 5 to 23, 2024 in Ghana. This is the information brought to the attention of the Council of Ministers last Wednesday (February 21, 2024) by the Minister of Youth and Sports, responsible for Civic Education and Citizen Construction, informed the Council of Ministers, Abdoul Karim Ibrahim Fomba. Mali will participate in 7 disciplines, including athletics, 3×3 basketball, handball, taekwondo, judo, cycling and boxing. It must be emphasized that these 13th African Games, “Accra-2023“, will serve as qualification for 12 sports disciplines at the Summer Olympic Games of “Paris-2024» (France).

The first African Games were organized in the Republic of Congo in 1965 and the 12th edition in 2019 in Morocco. Malian athletes have always participated, across several sporting disciplines, and have distinguished themselves in certain disciplines, notably judo, athletics, football, taekwondo, basketball and boxing. Let us bet that the Malian representatives will once again be able to rise to the heights desired in the Ghanaian capital by obtaining qualifications for the “J​.O Paris 2024» !
