Badminton Club in Verviers Rises to National Level for Second Consecutive Season

In any case, badminton in Verviers can rejoice in having risen, for the second consecutive season, to this national level. While only ten years ago, he found himself at the lowest point of the ladder… “We were Belgian champions three times in a row between 1975 and 1977”, first manager Françoise Kaiser. “Since then, never again… and 10 years ago, therefore, many players left the club. We had to cut teams and start again at the lowest level. We have since come back and this is our second year in Nationale 1.” Today, the RBCV has 160 affiliates and three interclub teams: N1 mixed, Division 3 mixed, Division 4 men. The youngest play mainly in individual tournaments.

While the “small final” of the national interclubs is scheduled for March 30 against Kortrijk, at the W&L facilities, the future is anticipated positively among the Verviétois. “We intend to continue in N1 and go as far as possible. We have to keep the team, obviously, but I think everyone will stay. We will also recover Alexandre Lallemand, who was our number 1, who was on mission for the army in recent months. It will be a very good reinforcement.”
