Luca Monticelli Makes Debut at RSC Anderlecht After Turning Down Club Brugge: Offers from Abroad Await

Last weekend Luca Monticelli made his debut at the highest level. He did that at RSC Anderlecht, while he may have been a striker at Club Brugge before.

In 2019, Luca Monticelli was captain of Standard’s U14s, but he received the necessary offers from all the major teams in our country.

Carl Hoefkens called Monticelli’s family a year later, in 2020, to bring him to Club Brugge. Monticelli’s entourage asked Red Devil Loïs Openda whether the move to blue-black was the right one, writes La Dernière Heure.

However, Openda advised Monticelli not to choose Club Brugge and he did so. He developed further at RSC Anderlecht and made his debut at the highest level against Sporting Charleroi last weekend.

Offers from abroad

The young striker could possibly have made his debut in the Jupiler Pro League earlier if he had chosen another team, but he patiently waited his turn for the purple and white and was thrown to the lions for 90 seconds against Charleroi.

Monticelli signed his first professional contract with the Brussels team in 2020 and extended it last summer until 2025. We will have to wait and see how his career develops further, because there are already offers from home and abroad.
