The likeable Czech, currently number ten in the WTA rankings, had to undergo an operation after persistent problems in her right batting hand. “After my injury at the US Open and an extensive rehabilitation period, it became apparent that medical intervention was necessary. So here I am, tired and sad, but I know I’ll be okay now. The operation was successful and I will do everything I can to see you on the pitch again soon,” writes the 27-year-old on Instagram.
The tennis ace from Olomouc made it to a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time at the Australian Open in 2021 and booked a place in the final of the French Open in 2023 (defeat against Iga Swiatek) and in the semifinals of the US Open. However, Muchova struggled with injuries throughout her career, but this time an operation was unavoidable. It is not yet clear how long the Czech will have to take a break.
