Kan Judo Olbia Gym Prepares for Year of Challenges and Victories

Olbia. In a year that promises to be full of challenges and goals, the Kan Judo Olbia gym, masterfully led by maestro Angelo Calvisi together with his faithful collaborators Gavino Carta, Mario Fusaro and Federica Calvisi, is already projected towards new victories and conquests.

After a 2023 characterized by triumphs both on the tatami and in the organization and in the social sphere, attention is now turned to the upcoming competitive commitments that await the Olbia athletes. And the test bench arrives already next weekend, with two Sardinian champions of 2023 and winners of the regional Grand Prix, Jacopo Merone in the 73 kg category and Canu Dennis in the 66 kg, who will compete in the finals of the Italian championships of the under 18 cadet class, held in Policoro, in Basilicata, under the watchful eye of maestro Calvisi.

Both athletes deservedly gained access, with Merone ranking prominently in the national rankings and Dennis gaining qualification during the regional phases. A challenging final, with 83 athletes qualified in the 66 kg category and 56 in the 73 kg category from all regions of Italy.

But the challenges don’t end here: next week the Sardinian championships of the rookie class B will be held, followed by the first stages of the regional Grand Prix for rookies, which will see young athletes in the 12-14 age group as protagonists, always under expert guide by Maestro Calvisi. And that’s not all: spring will be characterized by the international commitment of the kids from the Kan Judo Olbia gym, who will participate in important events such as the Budapest Judo Cup, the Challenge JP La Sanquer in Ajaccio and numerous national competitions around the peninsula.

The Kan Judo Olbia gym therefore confirms itself as a point of reference not only for judo enthusiasts in Sardinia, but also at a national and international level, thanks to the dedication and competence of its team led by master Angelo Calvisi.
