Unfortunately, Jurij Rodionov was unable to carry the momentum from his Challenger title from last week to Rotterdam. The 24-year-old lost to Zizou Bergs (ATP No. 133) in qualifying for the ATP 500 tournament 4:6, 6:7(5).
The Austrian left-hander started the qualification as number four, but it was over for him in the first round.
In the first set, Rodionov is close to a break at 3:3, but the Belgian successfully fends off both break points. Ultimately, the ÖTV ace even had to give up the service for the decisive 4:6.
The second set goes without a single break, the decision is made in a tie-break. Bergs has the upper hand there with 7:5.
