Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool lose the top game at Arsenal FC

Arsenal FC made the title race in the English Premier League exciting with a win against Liverpool FC and coach Jürgen Klopp. The club of national soccer player Kai Havertz defeated the leaders 3:1 (1:1) on Sunday and reduced the gap to the “Reds” to two points. Champions Manchester City can overtake both teams in the table with two games less. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team will face relegation candidates FC Brentford on Monday (9 p.m. CET on Sky).

Arsenal were clearly superior to Klopp’s team until shortly before half-time. Despite good chances, the “Gunners” were unable to achieve more than a 1-0 lead thanks to England striker Bukayo Saka (14th minute). Completely surprisingly, the equalizer came shortly before half-time: Luis Díaz passed the hand of Arsenal defender Gabriel in the penalty area. From there the ball rolled into the net to make it 1-1 (45th+3).

Defensive mistakes help Arsenal

After the break the match was more open. Then a major misunderstanding between Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson and defense chief Virgil van Dijk helped the hosts: Gabriel Martinelli only had to push into the empty goal to take the lead again (67th).

In the final phase, after a foul on Havertz, Liverpool not only had to accept the yellow-red card for former Bundesliga professional Ibrahima Konaté (88th), but also the decision. Leandro Trossard (90+2) sealed Klopp’s team’s second defeat of the season with his goal to make it 3-1.

Record champions Manchester United are hoping for European Cup qualification after their clear 3-0 (1-0) win over rivals West Ham United. After goals from Alejandro Garnacho (49th/84th) and Rasmus Höjlund (23rd), the “Red Devils” moved past West Ham into sixth place.

Former Champions League winners Chelsea FC are far from that. The “Blues” suffered a 2:4 (1:2) defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Former Hertha and Leipzig professional Matheus Cunha scored three times for the guests. With 31 points, Chelsea are only eleventh in the table.
