Jürgen Klinsmann Dismissed as South Korea Coach After Disappointing Results

A great coach was dismissed following his team’s disappointing results.

It was expected, it is now official: Jürgen Klinsmann is no longer the coach of South Korea. The Korean Football Federation announced this week the dismissal of the German technician.

Klinsmann pays for South Korea’s poor results. Presented as one of the big favorites for a final coronation at the Asian Cup, the South Korean selection was eliminated at the semi-final stage of the competition by Jordan, to everyone’s surprise (0-2).

An inevitable decision

In addition to this sporting disillusionment, South Korea was also disappointing in terms of play, despite the presence of superlative players in its ranks, such as Tottenham striker Heung-min Son, a star in the Premier League. The latter also distinguished himself by a physical altercation with the other big name of the team, PSG midfielder Lee Kang-in.

To replace Klinsmann, the South Korean Federation wants to find the suitable technician “at the beginning of May at the latest”. In the meantime, it is Sun-hong Hwang, currently in charge of the Olympic selection, who will take over from the German in an interim capacity.
