Latvia’s best tennis player Jeļena Ostapenko won the second round of the WTA Series 1000 points tournament in Dubai on Tuesday, February 20, defeating Swiss athlete Lula Sana 6-4, 6-3.
Although New Zealand-born Sana is only ranked 181st in the WTA rankings, she caused problems for Ostapenko. In the first set, Ostapenko was unable to get break points for a long time, but she herself had difficulties with serving in the service games. Only in the tenth game did Ostapenko escalate the fight for the first time by serving to her opponent. Ostapenko did not use the first break point, but with the “second move” she broke the opponent’s serve, which immediately won the set with 6-4.
