As part of the All-Star Weekend, Jayson Tatum stated that he wanted to become the face of the NBA in the future. After an era with Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant, successors are needed. The footprints are huge.
For such a young player, Tatum has already accomplished a lot in his six-year NBA career. He was in the NBA Finals once and in the Eastern Conference Finals four times.
That’s why Tatum was asked at All-Star weekend whether he could imagine becoming the new “face of the NBA” when LeBron James (39 years old), Stephen Curry (35) and Kevin Durant (35) are in the Go into retirement.
“I feel like I can be,” he said. “I feel like if we win a championship it would be even more meaningful and clear. But I know I’m definitely on the shortlist.”
The Boston Celtics star is clear that pure success in the regular season doesn’t make him one of the best players in the league: “I understand that no matter what I do in the regular season, I’m at a point where the “People judge me based on whether I can win a championship,” Tatum told Jared Weiss of The Athletic. “I realize that, and I think I just have to do it.”
That’s easier said than done. Jayson Tatum has already failed in the NBA Finals, but his chances of winning a title are better than ever in his career.
With the Boston Celtics, the All-Star is in first place in the West with a record of 43-12. The team plays like a cast and has Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis, other top-class players in its ranks.
