Iga Swiatek’s Victory in Doha Solidifies World No. 1 Ranking

The Polish Iga Swiatek, victorious on Saturday at the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha, consolidated her first place in the world rankings, published on Monday. Only one change took place in the top 10: the return of Jelena Ostapenko in ninth position, with two places gained, following her accession to the round of 16 of the Qatari tournament. The Latvian exchanged places with the Greek Maria Sakkari, who fell two places.

The only other progression within the top 20 is that of the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, beaten by Swiatek in the eighth in Doha, who gained two places to climb to 17th position.

Among the French, Caroline Garcia lost a few points after her exit in the first round in Qatar and remains 21st in the world.
