Harold Tejada Emerges as Winner of Tour Colombia 2024’s Second Stage

In an exciting conclusion, Harold Tejada of the Astana Qazaqstan team emerged as the winner of the second stage of the Tour Colombia 2024, after covering 168.6 kilometers from Paipa to Santa Rosa de Viterbo. The route, with three categorized passes, presented an undulating profile that challenged cyclists.

The climber from Huila took over the lead by proving to be the strongest within the group of escapees, crossing the finish line ahead of the Italian Andrea Piccolo of EF Education – EasyPost and the Spanish Óscar Sevilla of Team Medellín-EPM, who occupied second and third place, respectively.

Although the peloton, led by the NU Colombia team, kept the difference controlled at around three minutes, with 85 kilometers remaining, several runners jumped out of the lot, neutralizing the breakaway and catching up with the fugitives.

With 10 kilometers to go, two experienced cyclists, Óscar Sevilla from Team Medellín-EPM and Robinson Chalapud from Team Banco Guayaquil, took the initiative, but with 2 kilometers to go, six men joined them.

In the final sprint, Yeison Reyes from Team Sistecrédito tried to surprise his rivals, but was unable to get away from them. Finally, Harold Tejada of Astana Qazaqstan showed his strength in the last stretchthus claiming his first victory with the Kazakh team.
