Hansi Flick seems to be the new trainer of FC Barcelona. The German coach was already linked to the Catalan top club in the past week and is currently busy mastering the Spanish language, Sport Bild reports.

The 58-year-old coach is without a job after his dismissal from the German national team. Flick was fired in September 2023 after disappointing results continued.

Barcelona’s project appeals greatly to him and club president Joan Laporta has internally pushed for his arrival. According to Bild Sport, Laporta is a very big fan of Joachim Löw’s former assistant.

After the painful home defeat against Villarreal (3-5), Xavi caused a shock in the football world. The trainer thought it was enough and thought the time was right to leave Spotify Camp Nou.

“There is no way back, it is time for change. As a Culé (Barcelona fan, ed.) I think it is time to leave,” Xavi said at the press conference.

Robert Lewandowski and captain Sergi Roberto tried to change Xavi’s mind, but to no avail. Barça will therefore have to look for a new trainer in the summer.

If the club does indeed end up at Flick, Barcelona will become the fourth club of his career. He started his career at FC Bammental (sixth division) and then coached TSG Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich. He won the treble with the latter club in 2020.
