Generazione Vincente Napoli Basket Advances to Semi-Finals at Frecciarossa Final Eight 2024

Generazione Vincente Napoli Basket prevails in the last quarter-final of the Frecciarossa Final Eight 2024 against Germani Brescia and will face UNAHOTELS Reggio Emilia in the second semi-final on Saturday 17 February at 8.45 pm. Sprint start for the Neapolitans, who took advantage of Sokolowski and Brown’s exits from the blocks and Ennis’ flashes on both halves of the pitch to seal the initial 3-10 against Petrucelli and his teammates. After a back and forth between Gabriel and Petrucelli from three points, Owens penetrates for the guest’s +9, before Gabriel and Brown exchange shots from the line to make it 8-17.

At the end of the quarter, Burnell scores a super triple but Pullen is fouled just before the siren and scores the free throws to make it 11-19 which ends the opening 10 minutes of the match. After two penetrations by Pullen and Sokolowski, Della Valle lights up with a triple but Owens immediately counters him with the same coin and yet another winning defense of the Winning Generation is capitalized on the other side with the easy support of Sokolowski (14-26 ). Germani, however, reacts with pride by involving Miro Bilan in the paint, taking advantage of Christon’s long-range skills and a triple by Gabriel, thus closing a 10-0 run interrupted by Owens’ free throw at 24-27.

Sokolowski and Pullen, with some nice initiatives in transition, propitiate the new extension of the Winning Generation at +8, but Della Valle, a heavy triple and a nice counterattack from Burnell still keep Germani in their wake (30-32). The half then ends with an exclamation point signed by Markel Brown, who flies to restore Napoli’s +4 (30-34 after 20′). Tyler Ennis becomes the protagonist at the start of the second half, as he makes a nice basket with a turn and shot and an assist for Brown, but Christon and Della Valle keep the Lombards alive (34-39). However, the Neapolitans continued to be extremely effective in transition with Brown making two more triples and re-establishing the +11 lead, before Christon and Gabriel surprised the opposing defense with rapid penetrations to make it 38-45.

Brescia’s number 0 brings his team closer even at -4, but Pullen shows his muscles by realizing a great four-point game and free throws that make the Winning Generation escape again (41-51). Subsequently, Pullen continues his show with a basket at the rim and a super triple of +14 and a nice cut from De Nicolao makes the Campania team fly further and they update their maximum lead to 46-61 after 30′ of the match. It’s then Petrucelli’s turn to carry Germani on his shoulders with five points of character, Gabriel and Massinburg capitalize on Brescia’s excellent ball circulation for -8 but Zubcic scores the heavy baskets from near and far that stop Germani’s rise (57-68 ).

Gabriel and Bilan, chased, exploit their centimeters in the opponent’s paint, Massinburg shows his talent from the low post for -5 and then Pullen invents the super penetration support of 63-70 with 5′ to go. Other forays to the rim by Owens and Pullen, however, re-established the double-digit advantage of the Winning Generation, before a bomb from Della Valle and a free throw from Massinburg kept the contest alive (68-76 with 2 and a half minutes to go ). Finally, some errors by Gabriel and Petrucelli close the contest and force Della Valle and his companions to surrender, despite the last flashes of pride from Burnell and Cobbins. It ends 74-80.
