Rayo Vallecano has officially announced that it has sacked coach Francisco Rodriguez, due to the increasingly poor performance of the Madrid team, which has won only one of its last 14 games in La Liga and is now not far from the relegation zone. The 45-year-old Rodriguez had been called to the Rayo bench in place of Andoni Iraola, who moved to the Premier League to manage Bournemouth.
According to Spanish media, among Rodriguez’s possible replacements is coach Inigo Perez, who was Iraola’s deputy last season. The next coach will immediately have to face two complicated matches, first against Real Madrid and then against Girona, the first and second teams in the table.
