First Six Italian Judo Athletes Officially Named for Paris 2024 Olympics

The Technical Direction of the Italian national team judo has officially announced the first six athletes who will take part in the next ones Paris 2024 Olympics. Although the qualification process is not yet concluded, FIJLKAM has made its first choices: Assunta Scutto, Odette Giuffrida, Veronica Toniolo, Alice Bellandi, Manuel Lombardo e Christian Parlati they’re going to Paris!

Given the latest update of the World Olympic List, the six Italian judokas are practically certain of qualification and the Technical Direction has decided to formalize the choices to build a personalized path, aimed only at the Olympics. “The nomination of these six athletes in the Olympic Team is definitive – it was specified in the federal communication – whatever changes may occur in the Olympic Ranking List, even to the advantage of other Italians”.

It is a selection of the highest international level, which aspires to win the most prestigious medals. Odette Giuffrida is at her third Olympics and is also dreaming of her third medal after the silver in Rio 2016 and the bronze in Tokyo 2020. Alice Bellandi, Manuel Lombardo and Christian Parlati are in their second consecutive participation and all three have changed category weight, continuing to achieve excellent results in the international field. Assunta Scutto and Veronica Toniolo, on the other hand, are making their debut: both very young, the former 22 and the latter 20, their track record speaks for itself. Scutto is currently first in the world ranking in the 48 kg category.
