Ostia, 12 February 2024 – Despite the deadlines and the results obtained in the world Judo circuit (the Olympic qualifications will end on 23 June and on 25 June, with the publication of the world rankings, the IJF will confirm in writing to the National Olympic Committees the places obtained), the National Technical Directorate of Judo Fijlkam has released the names of a first shortlist of athletes, who will make up the team for Paris 2024.

In order to allow the best preparation for the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, considering the results achieved, the qualification path carried out up to now and the most recent update of the World Olympic List, the National Technical Directorate has appointed a first shortlist of athletes who will to make up the Paris 2024 Olympic Team.
The following athletes are in fact well within the quota of direct qualifiers, to the point that they can declare their qualification process successfully concluded:
-48 kg: Scutto Assunta
-52 kg: Giuffrida Odette
-57 kg: Toniolo Veronica
-78 kg: Bellandi Alice
-73 kg: Lombardo Manuel
-90 kg: Spoken Christian
The nomination of the aforementioned athletes in the Olympic Team is definitive, whatever changes may occur in the Olympic Ranking List, even to the advantage of other Azzurri.
For the nominated squad, an individualized path will shortly be discussed to ensure an optimal approach to the Olympic Competition and, where necessary, to improve the positioning of the individual athlete in the category Olympic Ranking.
Please note that participation in the World Judo Tour competitions in the same categories is not precluded to other athletes, in particular to those who were directly qualified behind the nominated athletes. For these athletes, the seasonal objectives will be briefly defined and a specific path will be indicated in order to keep them at Olympic altitude.
