FC Twente won 0-3 last Saturday against Excelsior. Within fifteen minutes the final score was on the scoreboard. After the match, it was about the statements Excelsior coach Marinus Dijkhuizen had made earlier.
The coach stated that FC Twente performs a lot less on foreign soil than in De Grolsch Veste. “That really served as fuel for FC Twente. Both Michel Vlap and Daan Rots talked about it afterwards,” says club watcher Tijmen van Wissing at The East Stand. Colleague Nico Wantia chimes in: “Fuel? Foaming at the mouth? What Excelsior showed was simply scandalous.”
“Those drunken sailors in the stands were even sharper than Excelsior’s rearguard. And that after an afternoon of carnival. I am very curious how Oosting will keep everyone satisfied. A lot of choice is a luxury, but it does cause some irritation. on the other hand: if the collective continues to run, you can increase that,” says Wantia.
