Everton’s Premier League Win Drought Continues Amid Ongoing Uncertainty

Everton are without a Premier League win since beating Burnley 2-0 on December 16 but moved out of the relegation zone on goal difference after a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday.

There has been discussion as to whether the ongoing uncertainty over the appeal is starting to impact performances on the pitch, but Sean Dyche does not believe that is the case.

“No, I don’t think so,” he said when asked. “The players have worked hard and diligently. I’m very pleased with what they’re doing on a daily basis. So I don’t think it is (affecting them) in a literal, every day business way.

“But I’m sure at the back of their minds they’re still wondering ‘come on then, when are you going to tell us where we’re at’.

“We look at it as it is now and unfortunately that process is taking some time.”

The club are also waiting to hear whether 777 Partners’ takeover will be approved. The Miami-based group agreed a deal with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri in September, but have not yet received the go-ahead from league officials to complete the move.

In a statement announcing the deal at the time, Everton said they expected the transaction to be completed before the end of 2023, with a guideline of 12 weeks given. That deadline has long since passed.

777 have had approval from the Financial Conduct Authority while assent from the Football Association is also considered a formality.

“I don’t know any more on that (the takeover),” Dyche said. “I’ve had one brief meeting and that’s it. It’s in the hands of the powers that be who are doing their due diligence.”

Everton are next in action against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
