European Badminton Champion Aims for Success at G Badminton World Championship

NINOVE – The European champion wants to continue her good performance from last year during the G Badminton World Championship from 20 to 25 February in Pattaya (Thailand). It is an important step towards success at the Olympic Games in Paris.

“My main focus is on the Games, but there are strong opponents at the World Cup, so this is important in the preparation”, says Man-Kei To. She is aiming for a medal next week. “I would like to play the semi-finals or the final, then I will continue the positive trend of last year. But above all I want to feel good playing, that is my absolute priority.”

Man-Kei To (Kiki) became European champion in Apeldoorn (Netherlands) in August 2023 in the WH1 class for wheelchair players. That title gave her more name recognition and helped her on a promotional level.

“But from a sporting point of view, I take into account that the strong Asians were not present there and did participate in Pattaya and Paris.”

In 2022, Kiki already won a silver World Cup medal with the Turkish Emin Seckin, silver in the women’s doubles.

The draw for the World Cup will take place on Monday, February 19. You can follow the world championship via G-sport Flanders.
