Embarrassing Moment for Tennis Star Andy Murray: Kissing Fail After First ATP Victory

United Kingdom – In 2006, the later Wimbledon winner Andy Murray (36) won his first ATP tournament. After triumphing over Australian Lleyton Hewitt (42) in the final of the SAP Open, he threw himself into the arms of his current wife, Kim Sears (36). What followed was an embarrassing moment for which the Scot would have kicked himself.

The British tennis ace was already shining on the court in San José, California, when he was just 18 years old, but his kissing skills still left a lot to be desired, as he now ruefully admitted.

In his Instagram story, the three-time Grand Slam winner shared a video of the successful start of his impressive career, which unfortunately also includes an unpleasant smack-fail.

In the ecstasy of joy, Murray first received a kiss and a warm hug. He then wanted to press his lips on his partner a second time, but he misjudged the timing and ended up smooching the middle of her face.

“If I had been on the other side, I would have dumped myself immediately,” Murray mercilessly assessed his earlier kissing skills.

Fortunately, his girlfriend at the time was a little more merciful and wasn’t put off by the faux pas.

Eight years later, she accepted the marriage proposal from the former world number one, and in 2015 the couple finally tied the knot in Murray’s homeland of Scotland.

Andy and Kim now have three daughters aged seven, six and two and a four-year-old son.

And in terms of sport, things also went uphill for the tennis star after his first title with a kiss-blunder.

In 2012, Murray won the US Open, and the following year he also won his first triumph at Wimbledon, which he repeated in 2016. The Scot also won two gold medals at the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016.

In total, the “Knight Bachelor,” who was knighted in 2017, was at the top of the ATP world rankings for a full 41 weeks and won 46 singles titles.
